Bennett Lane Winery is a great place to visit and taste wines. Bring a snack and sit out on the beautiful patio and enjoy some wonderful wine. It's safe for kids if you are outside; bring a ball for them to kick around on the grass. We had the opportunity to walk into the vineyard and pick some grapes. We've enjoyed the 2003, 2004 and 2005 Maximus and share it with everyone we can. I didn't know about that you could blend wines there; I know you can do it at Joseph Phelps and it's a lot of fun. I'm glad you are sharing this great winery with more people!

The blending your own wine very fun, even though neither Pam nor myself had any prior experience. The entire event you are lead through a tasting of various wine varietals, and then you are encouraged to mix up your own right there at the table.

The NASCAR was very cool, especially when we fired it up and the engine was echoing off all the wine storage tanks in the room! A truly unique experience!

Thanks for stopping by and commenting - we're glad you enjoyed the show!

That's very cool, blending your own wine. I think I would be timid in trying that, especially knowing how complex wine can get. Although I would have to go for a red because I prefer those generally over white, rose, or sparkling.

I bet that nascar was pretty cool up close, especially getting to jump in through the window!

With all of the stories in the news of people who have received multiple DUIs, the increased crack downs on drunk drivers, and the horror stories of alcohol-related fatalities it seems to me that you and other wine lovers need to get your message out to more people. Let people know that drinking wine in moderation has been shown to have many health benefits. Spread the news about the fun and good times you have experienced with wine and chocolate :-)

[...] Pam and Joe from A Guy, A Girl and A Bottle podcast neither liked my theme or fully understood the “rules” (it’s 12.5% or less, not less than 12.5%, guys!). They ended up with a couple of wines, a “heavy” Chilean Santa Ema, Merlot 1999 (at 12.8% ABV) and a “lite” Portuguese Quinta D’Aguieura 2001 (at 12% ABV). Sounds like the Merlot was a bit over the hill, and the Portuguese blend of 40% Touriga Nacional and 60% Cabernet Sauvignon was too watered down for the hedonists from California Listen to their podcast here for their full tasting notes and their suggestion I should have picked “high” alcohol wines as the theme.
Cinnabar has great fun with grape stomping in September. Good barbecue as well. And did you know that George's dad has his own line of wines? Angelo began making wine with his family in Scranton, Pennsylvania in the 1930s.

There's 68 wineries in the Santa Cruz Mountains and there's still less acerage in vineyards than there was in the 1800s!

John -

Thanks for your feedback, and we couldn't agree with you more. In fact for this particular episode, (#14) we actually gave Zak a lapel microphone, but the equipment failed. What you are hearing is the low level that was picked up by our microphone. We had the choice of either trashing the whole episode, or putting it out there as-is. We are looking at different ways of handling this, including private tastings (that will hopefully allow us to control the atmosphere a little better). We are also looking at other ways to record onsite without negatively affecting the quality.

Thanks again for your feedback and supporting 'A Guy, a Girl, and a Bottle'!

I really like you Podcast format but am very frustrated with the voice quality of your guests. The guy’s and girls audio quality is good but the representatives of the vineyards are very hard to hear. You are asking great questions and there is a ton of information that is getting lost because of poor audio quality.

Once again, I enjoy the show.

Thanks for the Podcasts they give those of us that don’t live in So. Cal a chance to experience the great wines of the area!
