Scott Sigler's EARTHCORE!

Hey there everyone, Pam & I wanted to let you know of ‘A Guy, a Girl, and a Bottle’ wine podcast is proud to be giving away three signed copies of Scott Sigler’s print book “Earthcore” on our 30th show (to be released on April 30th)

While this isn’t all that interesting, what IS noteworthy is that ‘A Guy, a Girl, and a Bottle’ is the first podcast (outside of of Adam Curry’s Daily Source Code/Devcast) to utilitize the ‘Golden Ticket’ technology that Podshow has pioneered to give away these prizes. The Golden Ticket technology ensures that only a predetermined number of winners will have a special audio clip inserted into the body of the podcast, informing the listener that they have won and providing them with specific instructions to claim their prize.

Episode 27 - Martin Ranch Winery

Martin Ranch Winery

Hey there Guys & Girls, we are travelling south to Gilroy for this episode and visit Therese and Dan of the
Martin Ranch Winery (www.martinranchwinery.com). Martin Ranch is a small winery located on the very southern end of the Santa Cruz Appellation, approximately 36 miles from downtown San Jose. Here’s a great tip - the winery is located just right down the road from Gilroy’s theme park - Bonfante Gardens - so you might want to work out a stop to pick up some great wines the next time you take the kiddies to the Gardens. Be sure to call ahead though, as the tasting room is only open by appointment, and on special occasions, like the upcoming Passport day on April 22, 2006. Martin Ranch Winery sits on 17 acres in the southern tip of the Santa Cruz Mountains and resides in the
perfect microclimate for growing Cabernet Sauvignon - warm days and cool nights. Therese and Dan started commercial winemaking in 1997 and in 2002, their first commercial crush of consisted of 625 cases. By 2004, the production was at 3500 cases. We talk at length with Dan about the farming process and we learn a new wine term this week - Cordon

Cordon - horizontal branches of a grapevine trained along the trellis; also called the arms. The
canes left after pruning which will produce fruiting shoots and new canes. -

Therese and Dan are not only winemakers, but also excellent cooks and one of their goals is to make great wines that pair nicely with great food. Visit their website for some excellent recipes. Hey there Guys and Girls, we have been so busy these last couple of weeks, I wanted to post a quick little blog to let you know what is going on over here at wine central.

First off - If you somehow missed it, we are now part of Podshow! Podshow is the premier podcasting network, and one of the main reasons that we chose to be affiliated with them is that we are excited in what they are going to be able to deliver to you - the listener. We want to get you more involved with our podcasts, give you prizes, provide tools for you to be more interactive and the like. We feel that Podshow will be able to provide these services and oh-so-much-more!

GoDaddy!

Secondly (secondly? Is that even a word?) - We are very proud to announce our very first sponsor - GoDaddy! GoDaddy is the schnizzle when it comes to domain registration and web hosting. For you dear listener, we have a few special codes to hook you up, let you spend less money on hosting, and more money on wine.
Enter the following discount codes at checkout, and save accordingly:

Bottle1 - Save 10% off any order. Everything.
Bottle2 - Save an additional $5 of any order $30 or more.
Bottle3 - Get any .COM domain name for only $6.95/yr. (That’s cheaper than we pay AND we use GoDaddy! GoFigure!)

Yes, these are great if you want a website or a webhost. If you don’t need either, don’t worry, we’ll have more exciting stuff coming very, very soon. (hint hint)

Lastly - We are getting ready for the switch over to the Podshow networks, and while we don’t expect any hitches, sometimes things don’t go the way you expect. We have setup an list that will send you an email each time we release a new episode. This is great if you don’t want to subscribe (although we really wish you would) OR if our subcription mechanism fails for some reason. (Yes, Virginia, it does happen).
Look on the right hand side where it says ‘Subscribe me’. Yep right over there ->.

Thanks & stay subscribed!
